History

Successfully trading for almost  one hundred years, the Baird name has been associated with road haulage operations in Scotland. The Company was founded in 1919 by James Baird, who, after serving with the Royal Engineers in the First World War, returned to Glasgow and purchased a one ton Model T Ford. The business prospered in the early years, and James Baird helped to set up a "Carriers Quarters" system in and around Glasgow. This idea is now developed in the pallet distribution networks of today. The company continued to grow, and in 1947 James Baird become a member of the Road Haulage Association.

In 1959 Ronald Baird joined and continued the expansion of the company through contract and general haulage work with both large corporations and smaller growing businesses. Seeing the need to offer value added services, such as warehousing, storage and distribution, Ronald Baird responded by locating the company to its present warehouse accommodation.

John Baird took control of the company in 1983 and has maintained the standards set by his father and grandfather before him. Success has been achieved through being willing and able to change to the needs of each particular customer.

Quality, service and customer satisfaction are as much part of the Baird service now as they were back in 1919. We are a well known Scottish warehousing and distribution company who are proud of their reputation, built up over many years.
